Tennis: three days before the Masters, Caroline Garcia separates from her coach Bertrand Perret

The man who allowed the Frenchwoman to go from 75th to 6th place in the world, prefers to leave for problems which "ended up spoiling

This is not the best way to prepare for the Women's Masters next week and to try to become the first Frenchwoman since Amélie Mauresmo in 2005 to win the event.

But it is without a coach that Caroline Garcia will appear in Fort Worth (Texas).

Because Bertrand Perret is no longer the coach of the semi-finalist of the US Open this year.

The news had leaked on social networks and Bertrand Perret confirmed it in an interview with the newspaper l'Équipe.

"In recent weeks, there were problems," he explains.

They ended up spoiling the atmosphere and I preferred to stop.

I do this job for fun and there, there were less.

A priori, the problems reported by Bertrand Perret are of an extra-sporting nature.

Caroline Garcia's coach Bertrand Perret reportedly announced that he was ending his collaboration with the player... But the post is no longer available on Facebook.

Sportingly, the blow is tough because Bertrand Perret is the man who allowed the Lyonnaise, previously trained by her father, to go from 75th place in the world to 6th, with three titles in the process (Bad Homburg, Warsaw and Cincinnati) and, above all, this semi-final at the US Open 2022.

“I would have liked to go to the Masters, yes, admits Perret.

But I'm not a man of pretense and when it's over, it's over.

There was no point in prolonging it artificially.

I preferred to cut rather than tear.

I'm glad I took her to the Masters, everything we did.

I have no problem with Caroline and I'm happy for her.
