EC Peiting was 3-0 down against Höchstadt after the first third - and fought back into the game.

Shortly before the end, jubilation was followed by bitter disappointment.

Peiting

– What a bitter moment that was for the people of Peiting.

Her fists had just shot up.

Had screams of joy filled the ice rink.

A deficit had been made good for the second time.

And then he leaves, this Eetu-Ville Arkiomaa, who had worn the jersey of EC Peiting a few months ago.

But on Wednesday he was the winning goal scorer for Höchstadter EC.

The Finn sealed Peitinger's 4:5 defeat with 27 seconds to go.

It was the end of a pretty crazy game in the ice hockey league.

And the people from Peiting had lost that in the first third.

That went, to put it mildly, pretty badly.

"We weren't ready, that wasn't enough," criticized ECP trainer Anton Saal later.

"And the duels: a disaster." These often didn't happen at all, because the Peitinger left their guests too much space and their own goalie Konrad Fiedler in the lurch.

Höchstadt immediately took his first chance to take the lead.

Goal scorer Anton Seewald made it 2-0 exactly eleven minutes later, before Dominik Zbaranski increased it to 3-0.

Peiting woke up after the first break

After the first break, the ECP came onto the ice in a completely different way, tied the Höchstadts in front of their goal and put pressure on them.

"That's when we woke up," said Saal.

A few chances fizzled out, then Felix Brassard managed to place the disc in the Höchstadt box.

Barely a minute later, Tobias Beck scored his first goal for Peiting – it was already 2:3.

The fact that shortly afterwards Louis Postel was handed a two-minute penalty for obstruction caused Peitinger to shake their heads.

The hosts had previously expressed their displeasure with the referee's performance on several occasions.

Of course, the protests changed nothing.

After almost half an hour, Höchstadt was still without a penalty, Peiting was down for six minutes at this point – each of which had no consequences.

Peiting equalizes twice

The first penalty for the HEC set it at the end of the second third.

Thus, Peiting started the last part of the game with a majority.

The ECP was not able to use the power play to equalize.

But the hosts were snappy now.

And the fight was rewarded.

David Diebolder followed up after a shot was blocked, shot a Höchstadter from a tight angle and the puck fell into the goal.

Zack, there it was, the longed-for compensation.

Fifteen minutes before the end, the game was suddenly open again.

After Martin Vojcak was put off the ice for two minutes after a board check against Sam Payeur, the ECP was outnumbered again.

But the team was clumsy, made several mistakes and even gave Höchstadt a chance.

But the guests only scored when they were complete again.

Jacob Fardoe aimed well and curled the puck into Peiting's net to make it 4:3.

Saal's team also put up with this setback.

94 seconds before the end, Thomas Heger tapped the flying puck into the goal – 4:4.

The people of Peiting raised their fists in the air and cheered.

The joy was short-lived.

Because then Arkiomaa left.
