Seven games isn't a lot, but it's enough to spot a trend.
And already, it can be said that things are not looking particularly good for Danny Avdia in the Washington Wizards in his third season in the NBA.
How bad?
Perhaps the worst since the Israeli arrived in the best league in the world in the 2020 season. After seven games, Avdia with low averages from his first two seasons with 4.9 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Actually his shooting percentages look not bad, that he recorded almost 42% for threes (5/12), and with 83% from the free throw line (significant improvement).
But despite being in the top five in 6 of the 7 games, Danny only plays 17 minutes a night.

After we got used to seeing him last season mainly coming off the bench, this season Danny started as a five player in the Wizards.
Although most of us hoped that this would indicate an improvement in his status on the roster and push him forward, that is not the case.
There are four players in Washington's five that are more active and dominant offensively than the forward, and he will almost always be the last option to take the shot.
In many cases he stands in the corner as we have already seen him do in the past, in most of the attacks he does not even touch the ball, and in fact - except for us, who can't wait to see him explode in the attack, for his friends and the team and the coach it is quite suitable.
After all, he is in this lineup mainly to be the quality defensive player, and the one who stops the opponents of the other team (in almost every game, the opposing star gets the matchup).

But the defensive effort he puts in, and also the fact that he almost always plays with players who don't often give up and are mostly looking for the ring does hurt him.
Because after only one game against Boston in which he did not impress defensively, he lost his place in the top five.
And you can understand why.
After all, if in attack he is not dominant, and in defense he is not much better than the rest, then what value does he have in the team's squad?
In the USA it is reported that the change made by coach Wes Anseld in the five is expected to be permanent, Anthony Gill (much less talented than Danny by all accounts) will take the Israeli's place - and he is expected to come off the bench. On the face of it, things may look better for Danny in the attack, because in the lineup The secondary will be more significant and will take more shots, even though he won't be the first option there either. And if we see him play well (defensively he will probably continue to impress), he may also earn playing minutes. Because so far, he has been in the top five, but he has played Fewer minutes than we saw him get last season.

And yet, at the beginning of this season more than ever, the picture becomes clearer again.
Avdia arrived at one of the worst teams in the league, one where he doesn't have enough opportunities to prove himself, one that already in the third season appears to be a very non-team player, and especially one where he has no real chance of becoming a leading player.
Before the season opener, I spoke with Chase Hughes, who is a Washington basketball reporter who covers the team for NBC, and the man who knows the Wizards best.
He told me that he thinks Avdia has the potential to become an All-Star in the NBA in the future (the Israelis are not completely cut off), but in order for him to do so he needs to double his scoring average from last season and play on a team that makes the playoffs.
Therefore, only a trade - can change something where the Israeli's career is currently going.
