When will Thomas Müller hang up his football boots?

In a video on Instagram, a sentence falls that makes you sit up and take notice.

Munich – Is Thomas Müller secretly working on his second career as a football star?

His enthusiasm for the sport with the egg-shaped ball is well known.

It wasn't until summer, before the start of the season, that Müller demonstrated his throwing skills in American football at a PR appointment with pros from the Seattle Seahawks in the Allianz Arena.

Incidentally, the arena in Fröttmaning will also be the venue for the Seahawks when they compete with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 13th.

But despite decent throwing technique and his strategic skills, Müller still has a long way to go to quarterback.

As an experienced soccer pro, his true qualities in American football are more likely to be found in his legs.

Appropriately, the 33-year-old slipped into the role of kicker for the current episode of his Instagram series "DA SCHAU HI" during a visit to the Munich football team Munich Cowboys.

In American football, the kicker is responsible, among other things, for scoring field goals and possible extra points after a touchdown, i.e. kicking the football through the goal rods at the end of the field.

Müller: "I'll be playing for two or three more years..."

And as was almost to be expected, Müller cut a good figure at the Munich Cowboys' kicker training session.

After a few warm-up exercises and tips from Cowboys kicker Robert Werner, the longer distances started straight away.

The kick from more than 30 meters was not a big challenge for the Weilheimer and he even successfully mastered the attempt from around 55 meters, i.e. just behind the center line of a soccer field.

Müller could hardly hide his joy at this.

"Hey Munich Cowboys!

I'll play for another two or three years and then do it..." he cheered towards the camera in a frenzy of emotion, but immediately interrupted his sentence and added with a smile to Werner: "Ah no, I don't want to take your thing away from you ... All good, that was the euphoria now”.

Will Müller be fit for the World Cup in time?

FC Bayern fans don't have to worry about Müller changing sports again.

The statement - albeit in jest - that he would only play for two or three more years made people sit up and take notice.

Of course, the attacking star in Bayern's squad at 33 is no longer the youngest.

The idea that Müller could soon end his career takes some getting used to.

At the moment it's all about getting really fit again for Müller anyway.

After Corona, gastrointestinal infection and back problems, hip problems are currently forcing him to take a break.

According to a media report, there is even a question mark behind the World Cup.

Most recently, coach Julian Nagelsmann gave a small update.
