The 2022 World Cup begins in three weeks. Bastian Schweinsteiger will be there as an ARD expert.
His World Cup formation brings up some exciting names.
Munich – It's not long until the 2022 World Cup starts.
So far, the desert tournament in Qatar has been the focus of media attention less because of the supposed sporting highlights and more because of the political and social situation on site.
Bastian Schweinsteiger also commented on this in advance and jumped to the side of his ex-president at FC Bayern Uli Hoeneß.
These statements were not well received by everyone, but now the ARD expert writes big about sport.
In an interview with
Sportbild
, Schweinsteiger reveals his World Cup formation.
According to the motto: "Look here, Hansi!
That's how I would set it up.”

The 2014 World Cup hero surprises with a few names.
“Manuel Neuer in goal, of course.
The central defense: Toni Rüdiger and Nico Schlotterbeck.
Kimmich and Goretzka on six and eight,” said Schweinsteiger, who disregards Mats Hummels.
On the offensive, the 38-year-old would rely on a mixture of experience and youth: "In attack Sané, Müller and - in top form - Marco Reus."
A little slap for Bayern star Serge Gnabry, who he calls Kai Havertz “as the first alternative”.
"Havertz in the centre, Gnabry on the outside," said Schweinsteiger: "It gets more complicated with the full-backs: Jonas Hofmann or Niklas Süle is on the right at the back - but only if he's in good shape," reveals the ex-DFB captain.
His choice of left-back is also very interesting.
The shoe has been pinching the DFB team there for a long time, even the national coach was probably so desperate that he allegedly wanted to persuade Jonas Hector, who ended his DFB career in 2020, to make a comeback.
Schweinsteiger would rely on Christian Günter from SC Freiburg.
"He has size, power and harmonizes perfectly with Schlotterbeck in Freiburg," said the ex-national player: "Or just David Raum."

Ilkay Gündogan also has no place in Schweini's World Cup formation.
He also explains why.
“With Joshua Kimmich there is a similar type of player.
Leon Goretzka goes far beyond the physical, can make the long runs," said Schweinsteriger: "Ilkay Gündogan on the bench is a luxury for any team.
I really appreciate him, he can be the man for decisive moments.
Ilkay can design a game, but it doesn't quite fit the characters in the midfield.
That's why, sorry Ilkay: First of all, it's just the bank place to start with."

However, Schweinsteiger has a very clear opinion about a Bayern star: "Jamal Musiala has to play!", who also believes the youngster can play a major role in this World Cup.
“He will be the key player for us.
He has skills like no other player in the German national team.
He can score goals, play games and – what I like most – he is a great defender at the back,” he enthuses enthusiastically about the 19-year-old.

And further: “I really like him because he exudes joy in playing.
He turns his head as he runs, knows where his teammates are.
He runs free again immediately, is in the game every second," Schweinsteiger praises Musiala's attributes: "He's an incredible player who will continue to develop."
The DFB team will start the World Cup against Japan on November 23 (2 p.m.).
Four days later it's against Spain (27th, 8 p.m.) before Costa Rica awaits at the end on December 1 (8 p.m.).
