In the Saturday games of the 15th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, Paderborn's pursuers 1. FC Heidenheim won the direct duel 3-0 (1-0).

As a result, Heidenheim moved up to third place in the table.

Fortuna Düsseldorf won 1-0 (1-0) against St. Pauli, where ex-Paulian Rouwen Hennings became the match winner for the hosts.

With a curious own goal, Karlsruhe laid the foundation for the 1:4 (0:2) home defeat against Holstein Kiel.

In the top game of the 2nd Bundesliga, Heidenheim received third place from Paderborn in fourth place.

The guests, with Leopold Zingerle in goal for the sick Jannik Huth, started with many mistakes in the build-up and lost the ball again and again.

Midfielder Kevin Sessa, in particular, impressed hosts Heidenheim and created chances (7th, 10th, 34th).

In the 35th minute he marched through the entire midfield, served Jan-Niklas Beste in the penalty area, who let Jannis Heuer get out and pushed into the far corner to make it 1-0.

A harmless Paderborn, who came with the most dangerous attack in the league, hadn't even shot at the Heidenheim goal until the break.

Heidenheim controlled the game until the end

In the second round, Paderborn presented themselves with more ball security, but controlled the game almost exclusively in their own half of the field.

Immediately after Paderborn made an offensive double change, Heidenheim made it 2-0.

Denis Thomalla took a cross directly, hit the crossbar and the ball bounced off the SCP goalkeeper Zingerle's foot (76').

Beste even scored twice with the goal to make it 3-0 (90+1).

Heidenheim moves up to third place in the table thanks to the win.

The initial phase in Düsseldorf was an open exchange of blows, with both teams creating their first chances.

Fortuna's Immanuel Iyoha had the best dropkick after a corner (14').

A short time later, an ex-Paulian did it better: After a long kick from goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier and a header extension, Rouwen Hennings made a save from the sixteen corner and hit the near corner (22').

St. Pauli, who went on the pitch without a change in personnel after the good performance in the 1-1 draw against leaders Darmstadt, then pressed and repeatedly won corner kicks.

The fifth then resulted in a counterattack and a shot by Henning from a similar position as in the 1-0.

This time, however, St. Pauli goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj was there (40').

In the double chance to equalize for St. Pauli, Fortuna keeper Kastenmeier then shone twice (44th).

A strong presentation from St. Pauli despite being outnumbered is not enough

Despite a good start in the second half from St. Pauli and 60 percent possession of the ball, the 2-0 lead for Düsseldorf was always in the air.

When Kristoffer Peterson finished, Vasilj, who had already been loaded, somehow got a foot in the way (51st).

After a headbutt by Betim Fazliji against Dawid Kownacki, St. Pauli were down to ten for the first time this season (59th).

St. Pauli made full use of the substitution quota in the last 20 minutes, even managed to deliver Dusseldorf out in front, but did not bring anything countable on the pitch.

Düsseldorf moves up to fifth place in the table with the win.

In a very tough game, Karlsruhe didn't get into the game at the beginning and the early goal conceded 0-1 therefore fitted into the picture: KSC midfielder Tim Breithaupt was put under pressure by Kiel 25 meters from his own goal.

His back pass to goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck then tumbled over the line because he was still standing next to the goal (16th) – own goal.

Karlsruhe improved as a result, but then defender Marcel Franke was again uncertain in a crucial scene: in a duel with Kiel's Kwasi Okyere Wriedt, he slipped away in the penalty area and cleared the way for the 2-0 for Kiel (30th minute). .).

Karlsruhe reacted to the goal with more offensive efforts, Fabian Schleusener hit the side netting before the break (40th).

Kiel dropped back in the second half and let Karlsruhe do it.

Schleusener and Kelvin Arase (49', 58') had no chances.

Instead, Fabian Reese scored to make it 3-0 for Kiel (67th).

The follow-up goal after good pressing by Simone Rapp was only a cosmetic result (72nd), also because Wriedt scored a second time late (90th + 2).
