The 'Piqué environment' has Barça in suspense

2022-11-05T11:02:12.212Z

The condition of former player, businessman and possible candidate for the presidency makes him a special case for the club

Barça's environment increases with notables like Piqué at a time when President Laporta has decided to run the club as a "family business" and Xavi explains that the team is "a family", a lot of frankness to face a critical situation that requires professionalism and the largest unit when preparing to move to Montjuïc for next season in order to update the Camp Nou.

Barça needs a critical mass as well as loyalty to come up with an unequivocal diagnosis that will correct the course of the institution and the team after the departure of figures like Piqué.

The effect of his goodbye on Barça is still unknown.

The center-back has announced that he will return while Laporta tries to get Messi to return.

It is not exactly a comparable situation because it is known that Piqué announced on his day that he would like to be president of Barcelona.

Rosario, on the other hand, still has time as a footballer before becoming a coach, sports director or the position he requests if he finally reappears at the Camp Nou.

A plan relatively similar to Iniesta's.

The immediate future of Busquets, meanwhile, is in Miami and Puyol's intentions are unknown.

The most emblematic players of that champion team with Guardiola have dispersed while the coach concentrates the interest of the Premier from City football after leaving his mark in the Bundesliga with Bayern.

It does not seem that Guardiola intends to return to Barça for the time being.

He has not been distant either, but even maintains a good relationship with Laporta and Xavi.

He only stated that the Barcelona project needs time and patience more than the urgency of the titles that are requested from the box and the bench at the Camp Nou.

There is no toxicity at the moment in an increasingly broad and noble Barça environment, but a certain measure is imposed despite the fact that some of its members feel hurt by the treatment they have received from the club, as has also been the case with Koeman.

The Dutchman's sacrifice ended up being assumed as natural due to sporting causes typical of any club that needs results in the same way that Messi's dismissal was justified by financial issues attributed to the mismanagement of the board chaired by Bartomeu.

The situation is very different with Piqué.

The player is just as hurt with Laporta as he is with the director of football, Mateu Alemany, as well as with the coach, Xavi.

The three have economic and also sporting arguments to defend themselves, especially since the center-back showed that he could no longer compete at the highest level, sore from injuries and portrayed in the match against Inter.

Xavi found an objective reason to argue his decision to relegate the player to the bench and he also already has the footballer who symbolizes the essential change for any football revolution to be visualized: Piqué.

The player's skill has been precisely to convert a tough sporting decision, paid for by a delicate personal and professional situation, into an act of homage for his brilliant football career at Barcelona and his curriculum as a modern businessman that has nothing to do with with the classic player.

The merit is greater if you take into account that he recorded the video of his farewell at the Camp Nou without anyone from the club knowing that he was to leave Barça.

"I will be back"

Piqué has not only been a footballer but was born to be a Barcelona player.

No one doubts his genuine culé condition and with his attitude he has forced us to remember that the club is one thing and the board another, a difference that he has internalized as a member of the squad and also as a businessman, especially when he helped capitalize on the entity in the times of Bartomeu.

Piqué will never be just a former soccer player but will become a sports entrepreneur who will not necessarily aspire to a managerial or technical position, but rather his intention may be to preside over Barça.

It is not a possibility in the short term after Laporta was elected in 2021. His mandate is not discussed but his decisions are silently scrutinized since he dismissed the general manager Ferran Reverter and partially mortgaged the club to start a transfer carousel that culminated with Lewandowski.

The club's situation is so delicate that its ownership and governance model is discussed daily, even though the president assures that Barça will never be a public limited company.

Investor groups, however, haunt the entity, overwhelmed by debt and wages, pending financing

Espai Barça.

The challenge is enormous for Laporta and the responsibility is maximum for Piqué.

The message of "I will return" admits different readings, so many that at the moment it is not known how the Piqué environment will act.

An institutional event to be held soon could help bring Barça together.
