Noam Yaakov's performance in Villerban's reserve team (from Twitter)
Tamir Blatt is in the midst of a breakthrough season at Elba Berlin, Yam Madar is improving at Zeljko Obradovic at Partizan Belgrade (and will receive extensive minutes in the coming weeks in light of the injuries to his teammates in the back line), but also the third Israeli center that belongs to the Euroleague team - Noam Yaakov - is experiencing momentum excellent.
The centre-back who just turned 18 last month and is already on the Villerban squad in the Euroleague in one of the games this season, excels in the club's reserve team (up to the age of 21) and the hype around him continues to increase.
Last week, "DraftExpress" scout John Czapkiewicz singled him out in particular, with a video that compiled some of his exciting moves in the season opener.
"Noam Yaakob behaves like a magician. He is creative and exciting, and gives showtime with his daring as he makes moves for the players next to him," wrote Cepakevich.
Yesterday (Tuesday) Yaakov continued to receive recognition, when he was selected by the "Eurospects" website, which specializes in young talents from Europe,

"After the impressive numbers at the European Youth Championship, Yaakov continues the convincing displays in France as well. He led Villerban's reserve team to four victories in October, averaging 16.5 points, 4 rebounds and 8.7 assists in those games. His game vision and passing ability have always been top notch high, but recently he is improving and developing also as a leader, and learning to play winning basketball that makes a big difference," they wrote about Yaakov.
"He makes every pass look exciting, and manages the game with maturity in burst attacks and pick-and-roll moves. He's proving he has what it takes to be a great guard in full-court pressure defense, and shows he's definitely capable of becoming a high-level penetrating guard in the future. Yaakov needs to work on His shooting from the outside and scoring at higher percentages, because that's the problem with his game right now, but all in all, this is one of the most intriguing guards of his generation, and we can't wait to see what will come out of him."

Yaakov is averaging 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game in the French U21 league this season, and looks like a natural candidate to become the next leading point guard of Israeli basketball.
There were those who expected that Jacob would be taken into account by Guy Goodes in the call-ups to the senior team for the upcoming window of the World Championship qualifiers, but it did not happen - despite a severe shortage of guards.
Tamir Blatt and Yam Madar were not released from their teams, Roi Huber is injured and the back line available to Goodes will be quite sparse.
Either way, one thing seems almost certain: sooner or later, Yaakov will be a significant part of the senior team.
