The Englishman Sam Goodchild was injured during the start in circumstances which are not yet known.
But the former Figaro sailor who became skipper of the trimaran Ocean Fifty Lleyton was hit in both arms and in the face according to an announcement made on the VHF channel of the race.

Sam is aware.
He is taken care of by the doctor and an assessment of the injuries is in progress.
Sam is going to be transferred to an SNSM boat.
The Ocean Fifty Leyton is taken care of by the technical team

The Englishman is therefore the first of the 138 sailors to abandon on this Route du rhum 2022.
No worries, however, except for what looks like a false alarm with images showing an impact on the hull of his Maxi Edmond de Rothschild, for Charles Caudrelier.
The Breton passed in the lead largely detached in front of his rivals the gate installed at the foot of Cap Fréhel, after 1 hour and 7 minutes of racing.
