The VSG Isar-Loisach volleyball team suffered their first defeat in a year against TSV Mühldorf II.

The promoted team then celebrated a 3-0 win against TSV Schönberg.

Geretsried – If it is 23:23, 24:24 or 25:25 at the end of a sentence in volleyball, there is pure excitement.

One of the two teams then only has to score two points to secure the set;

in two situations, courage or hesitation can make the difference between victory and defeat.

“I think we were afraid of losing,” said coach Nabil Habboubi after VSG Isar-Loisach lost 3-0 in a more than close duel against TSV Mühldorf II – it was the syndicate’s first defeat in a year.

After all, the newly promoted team then rewarded themselves with a 3-0 win against TSV Schönberg on their first home game in the state league.

The people of Mühldorf came to Geretsried with concentrated volleyball know-how and skills – with coach Joachim Tille as the father of three national players (Ferdinand, Johannes and Leonhard), Hauke Ferch as a former Mühldorf teammate of VSG outside attacker Fabian Liemer in the 3rd division and 2nd Bundesliga South as well as a whole range of talents such as youth international Moritz Wöls.

In addition, with an impeccable record of five wins in five games.

The hosts went to work with great motivation and were in the lead for a long time in the first set.

Only when the score was 15:15 did the game turn unexpectedly.

"We screwed that up ourselves," Nabil Habboubi was annoyed about the mistakes in accepting and completing the game, which led to a 22:25 loss of the set.

Both teams were evenly matched in the second half.

But several times the VSG made network errors or acted indecisively in the field defence.

Nevertheless, everything was possible up to the score of 25:25, before the Mühldorfer youngsters added two more points.

The hosts wanted to win the third period - cheered on by the home fans in the packed stands.

Again, things were looking good for them for long stretches;

only at 15:16 did TSV take the lead.

The VSG fought their way from 18:21 to 19:23 to 23:23, but in the end Mühldorf closed the sack again with 25:23.

"The opponent lived off our mistakes," said the coach.

He saw a lot of good actions, but the closer his team got to equalizing, the more weaknesses appeared.

"Annoying," says Habboubi, who had hoped to at least win a point in the duel against the leaders.

In the second match of the day against TSV Schönberg, Christian Leykam and Mirko Walter were allowed to play.

The latter immediately proved to be a reliable supplier of points, so that VSG was constantly ahead in the first round up to 16:16 and also won with 25:20.

Now not only was the block better than at the first appearance - there were also a number of block points.

The hosts got off to a flying start in the second half, 6-0.

Gradually, the coach changed his other players like Dominik and Korbinian Hölzl as well as Lukas von Stülpnagel, without there being a break in the game, but a 25:22.

Lower Bavaria didn't have much to oppose in the third set.

Habboubi had to take another tactical break when the score was 9:9 and urge his protégés to concentrate more.

But up to 25:16 the passage was a sure-fire success.

"Actually, I expected Schönberg to be stronger," admitted the VSG coach, who was satisfied with his team's performance: "I also tried to give everyone a chance and match practice."

The new table third is free of play next weekend;

the next match is scheduled for November 19 at 2:30 p.m. at TSV Vaterstetten.
