BAYERNLIGA SÜD - Ex-Anzinger comes with Allach to the lion's den: "Special game"

Anzing – Philipp Batzer wishes his ex-colleagues from SV Anzing “that they win all their remaining games this season”.

However, the handball player, who left the Bavarian league in the summer, makes a not unimportant restriction: "But only after this Saturday." Because TSV Allach will be guesting in Anzing at 6 p.m. - and thus Philipp Batzer's new team.

"It's obviously a special game for me," says the man from the back.

"I look forward to it.

After all, I still have good friends in Anzing.” Batzer wore the SVA jersey for six years, although towards the end of his time with the lions he “didn't play that big a role in sport”, as he says himself.

This was then also the main reason for his move to Allach.

"I wanted to prove to myself what's still possible," says Batzer.

And so far this plan has worked.

With one foot in the playoffs

Because in Allach, the left-hander is one of the top performers and most reliable goal scorers;

only last week he netted six times in the surprising 27:25 win over relegated Günzburg.

"I don't want to speak of satisfaction," says Philipp Batzer, looking at his strong performance.

"But of course I'm happy that things are going so well." And not only for him, but also for his team: With 10:6 points, Allach is fourth in the table.

And with a win on Saturday in Anzing, the promoted team would already have one foot in the playoffs.

The situation with the Anzinger Löwen is completely different: For the reigning runners-up, who has only won two of eight games, a place in the top four is a long way off.

In order to at least have a chance of making the playoffs, they now need a win against Allach, where SVA lost the first leg 26:28.

"Hardest game of the season"

"The team is definitely better than where they are in the table," says Batzer about his former team.

"From my point of view, Saturday will be one of the two toughest away games this season."

And yet the Allachers want to continue their winning streak with the lions before he keeps his fingers crossed for his former club in the following games, says Philipp Batzer.

“Anzing has become a piece of home for me.

That's why I hope that the team manages to stay up in the league."
