"We have a different team with many new players and it's a process.
Sometimes the learning processes are difficult.
There are a lot of actors here who get the stage and it takes time to get acclimated.
We need to look at ourselves and see how we do things better.
Everyone ran and fought and it's not always enough, there is also an opponent on the other side," noted Guy Goodes at the end.
Godes' trainees wanted to dictate a high tempo before the match, but had difficulty getting into the game and suffered from a bad shooting day that manifested itself in only five points in explosive attacks, 30.4% from three, and 36.5% from the field.
"They didn't enter the game well, we didn't run enough and didn't take enough rebounds in defense. They came to hit and we weren't aggressive enough and that's what cost us in the game," shared his feelings the fresh team captain Tomer Ginat, who contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds.
The team cited the multiple turnovers, 24 in number, which led to 26 Slovenian points, as the main reason for the loss.
"When you lose 24 balls and allow the opponent to score easy points, it's very difficult to win. We didn't score well today, we lost too many balls, we scored 62 points and it's very difficult to win that way," added Goodes.
Despite the team's loss, we noted positively the confidence and energy of Nathaniel Artzi and Niv Mashgav, who made their debut in the national uniform and played a relatively good game.
"My first game in the national team and I really wanted to win, I waited five years for this moment and I felt proud to represent the country", he shared his feelings at the national final.
At the beginning of the week, the team will go to Sweden, where they will meet the local team on Monday, knowing that another loss will definitively mark the fate of the campaign.
"We continue to fight as long as there is a chance, even the smallest, to qualify for the World Championship," the team stated.
