The safety car ends and Ocon had to be told again by the race engineer that under no circumstances should he race against Alonso - instead he should concentrate on Vettel.

Russell and Hamilton won the start.

Perez, on the other hand, left too much space in between and is now fighting for third place with Sainz.

Nothing has yet been decided between the two and Charles Leclerc is also getting closer and closer from behind!

The right safety car has now come out and is leading the drivers.

George Russell, meanwhile, asks his race engineer if there will be an internal rule between him and Hamilton or if the two teammates can really race each other right at the start.

The good news for all fans: Hamilton and Russell can and should drive a normal race - but of course with respect!

53/71 laps:

LANDO NORRIS IS OUT!

The McLaren just stopped and doesn't want to go any further.

Bitter - that's the double end for the racing team.

There is the virtual safety car and some drivers are now using the situation for a pit stop!

Sainz also changes from the medium to the soft tires and comes out behind Perez, but with the fresher tires.

50/71 laps:

Many drivers are now getting fresh soft tires again.

Even Hamilton, who doesn't find it that funny.

He complains to his race engineer over the radio and wants to know why his team has brought him in now - after all, there are still more than 20 laps to go and who knows whether the soft tires will last that long.

But also team-mate Russell, who is still in P1, got fresh soft tyres.

45/71 laps:

Russell is now almost ten seconds ahead of second.

And that second place is exactly what Perez and Hamilton are fighting for!

But Hamilton can win the fight for himself.

The Silver Arrows haven't won a single race this season and now they're both P1 and P2.

Can Russell and Hamilton take the one-two home today?

There are still a few laps to go.

38/71 laps:

Hamilton is currently driving one fastest lap after the other.

Schumacher is currently engaged in an exciting battle with Zhou for 10th place. The Chinese is called into the pits and Schumacher has improved to P10.

But behind him, Max Verstappen in the Red Bull is getting closer - the German has no chance against him.

33/71 laps:

George Russell is currently flying ahead of Perez and Sainz on P1.

For the Brit it would be his first ever race win!

Sebastian Vettel can hold his ground very well in the midfield with his Aston Martin, he is currently in P7.

Unfortunately, things are not looking so good for Mick Schumacher, he has already dropped back to 12th place.

29/71 laps:

A few clouds are gathering over the race track, but according to the radar nothing should be coming down.

Lewis Hamilton has already asked his race engineer about this.

Now Hamilton is also coming into the pits, for a few laps the seven-time world champion led the Brazilian GP.

Leclerc and Verstappen are trying to work their way forward at the other end of the field.

24/71 laps:

Russell has had a solid race so far in P1.

Perez has come to his first pit stop and switches to the medium tires.

His teammate Verstappen comes in immediately afterwards and thus also serves his 5-second penalty.

Nevertheless, the actual stop from him lasted more than five seconds!

The top ten of the grid are gradually going into the pits and getting the new tires.

18/71 laps:

Sainz had to go to the pit stop, the rear right brake ventilation got stuck in the Spaniard's car.

When the tire was removed you could see real flames coming out!

So far, the first eight drivers are still on their soft tires.

The end of the field rides on the mediums.

14/71 laps:

Max Verstappen and Lando Norris both get a 5 second penalty.

Verstappen for colliding with Hamilton and Norris for his clash with Leclerc.

As a result of the accident, the Monegasse fell all the way down to P18.

For him, it's about second place in the World Championship and his competitor Perez is currently in P2!

11/71 laps:

The accidents of the other drivers definitely helped one or the other!

Sebastian Vettel is currently in 5th place and even Mick Schumacher was able to make up a few places, he is currently in P8.

Nevertheless, both can continue, only Hamilton on P6 and Max Verstappen on P17.

5/71 laps:

Since lap one and the crash of Ricciardo and Magnussen, the other 18 have been following the safety car.

In the meantime, Albon has switched from his hard to medium tires after three laps and Charles Leclerc probably had problems with his car in turn three, but according to the race engineer at Ferrari there doesn't seem to be a problem.

1/71 laps:

WHAT A START!

We have the safety car out right away: Daniel Ricciardo drives into the back of Kevin Magnussen in a corner and both drivers have to retire, Ricciardo's McLaren ends up in the barrier, Haas's only on the grass.

Luckily nothing happened to the drivers.

Unfortunately, Russell's good start and lead was over with the safety car!

The race will start here in Brazil shortly.

Even though the world champion with Max Verstappen has already been determined, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez are at stake for second place in the drivers' championship.

Also, Mick Schumacher needs to have a good race to secure his seat for next season!

Update from November 13, 2022, 6:43 p.m.:

The race starts in 17 minutes and today's birthday boy

Lando Norris is not driving in good conditions.

He already missed the media day in São Paulo on Thursday due to food poisoning.

Nevertheless, the Brit drove on Friday and Saturday, but after the sprint he said that he hadn't eaten for two days and that it was therefore more strenuous for him than usual.

Nevertheless, he was able to secure a good 6th place and starts between the two Ferraris.

First report from November 13, 2022, 6:30 p.m.:

São Paulo – Things don’t seem to be going so well at Alpine at the moment.

During the sprint qualifying, the two drivers Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon collided with each other.

Of course, both drivers got upset with the team over the radio, Alonso vented to his race engineer: "I lost the front wing, thanks to our friend."

But not only that: Shortly after the end of the sprint, Ocon's car suddenly caught fire and had to be extinguished, so the mechanics still had a lot to do before the race.

Fernando Alonso had even clearer words about the incident after the race: "Just one more race and then luckily it's over!" The Spaniard is moving to Aston Martin next season.

Race officials still wanted to speak to him and not Ocon after the race.

The stewards determined that Alonso himself was to blame for this crash, he misjudged the time it took him to pull out behind Ocon.

For this he got a 5-second penalty and starts from P18 and also two penalty points.

The fight for the world championship is already over for this season.

Max Verstappen was crowned world champion for the second time in Japan (09.10).

Nevertheless, important points are still at stake for the other drivers until the last race in Abu Dhabi (20.11).

Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Sergio Perez (Red Bull) are currently fighting for second place in the drivers' standings.

It's been a constant head-to-head between the two for a while.

At the moment there are just six points between them.

Perez is currently second with 284 points and Leclerc is third with 278 points.

Depending on how the race in Brazil turns out, we won't find out until Abu Dhabi which driver will take second place after Verstappen.

Mick Schumacher: Haas pilot with a mixed weekend

Mick Schumacher has had a rather mixed weekend in Brazil so far.

After the German had a pretty bad qualifying session on Friday (11 November), he had to start Saturday's sprint (12 November) from the back of the field.

After all, he immediately made up three places and even finished the sprint race in 12th place.

Nevertheless, precisely this inconsistency is the problem for Günther Steiner.

"We all know that Mick had very good and very bad moments this year, it was an up and down," said the Haas team boss at a press conference on Saturday.

But he is also aware that Mick has improved over the course of the season.

“It was very difficult at the beginning of the season, he had a strong new team-mate in Kevin Magnussen, so this was real Formula 1 for him for the first time.

But he got out of there.” Nevertheless, Steiner still doesn't seem to be sure whether he still wants Schumacher in the car next season.

The team boss has already postponed the decision as to who will be the second driver in the Haas.

During the week of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (November 20th) he finally wants to announce his decision.
