For the German Olympic Sports Confederation, the postponement of the allocation of the Winter Games for 2030 has no effect on a possible candidacy.
This was announced by the DOSB, which had recently decided on a strategy process for an Olympic application, at the request of the dpa news agency.
According to the DOSB, only 2034 and 2038 for winter games or 2036 and 2040 for summer games would be realistically possible years for a German application.
The International Olympic Committee announced on Tuesday that it would not yet choose the host for the 2030 Winter Games at the IOC session next year in view of climate change.
The selection committee should be given more time to examine all factors and talk to experts and associations in order to make a decision.
The three interested parties concerned had been informed, the IOC said.
"It's good that the IOC can act flexibly due to the changed allocation process and is no longer rigidly tied to a schedule," said the DOSB.
"The postponement highlights the major challenges winter sports and the Winter Olympics are facing due to climate change."
Applicants must prove that they are below zero
The IOC was reacting to a report by the award commission led by the Romanian Octavian Morariu.
The Commission has formulated specifications and requirements for a possible host of the Winter Games.
Among other things, an applicant must prove a temperature of below zero degrees over a period of ten years at venues of snow competitions during the Olympic period.
The idea of rotating the Winter Games between certain cities and regions was also discussed.
However, no final decision was made on this, nor on a possible double award of the 2030 and 2034 Winter Games.
Salt Lake City and Sapporo have announced their candidacy for the 2030 Olympics.
The government of the Canadian state of British Columbia recently said no to an application from Vancouver.
In 2026 the Winter Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo.
Most recently, the Asian Olympic Committee caused criticism, which approved a controversial billion-euro project and awarded the 2029 Asian Winter Games to Saudi Arabia.
The competitions are to be held in a mountainous region near the coast.
However, there has never been any snow there.
