Frida Giersdorff, her sister Lotta and Hannah Schreiber represented the district at the German Cross Country Championships in Lower Saxony.

Löningen/Freising – With the German Cross Country Championships in Löningen, very special competitions were on the program for the Giersdorff sisters Frida and Lotta from TSV Jahn Freising and for Hannah Schreiber from LAG Mittlere Isar.

The fact that national title fights are of a different caliber can be seen from the atmosphere on site - and not least when you look at the strong field of participants.

Unfamiliar environment for the Freising runners: Parents and coaches do not travel to the competitions

"Even if they haven't been specially prepared for this championship, it's a great experience on the big stage," emphasizes coach Jörg Kunstmann from TSV Jahn.

All three Freising runners had to complete three laps with a total length of 4.12 kilometers and numerous climbs that day.

"The circumstances weren't the best for Lotta and Frida this time - neither coaches nor parents were there.

In such a big championship, it does matter if you don't have the familiar environment around you that gives you self-confidence.

Despite that, the girls did really well,” praised the coach.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Frida Giersdorff divided her strength well and was able to rely on her usual strong finish in the race in the U20 age group.

With 15:55 minutes she was happy about the 16th place among the 50 participants.

Hannah Schreiber leaves district competitor Lotta Giersdorff behind in the U18 age group

Sister and training partner Lotta Giersdorff took to the slopes in the U18 age group.

However, the length of the route did not suit her, as she sees herself more on the shorter distances and is already training for the upcoming indoor season.

Both the athlete and the coach were satisfied.

With a time of 16:56 minutes, she came in 23rd among 41 athletes.

Hannah Schreiber from the LAG started in the same age group.

The clock stopped for her at 16:34 minutes.

With this performance she reached the 17th place in the end.
