It doesn't get any better: A 14-year-old dominates the U19 competition.

Erding – 14-year-old Theresa Faltermaier from Erding celebrated total triumph at the Bavarian Championships for U19 girls in Dillingen.

She won all three competitions in which she competed.

It started in mixed.

Together with Lorenz Schäfer from TTC Kist, they secured a 3-0 win against Sophie Schirm/Johannes Roth in the round of 16.

In the quarter-finals, there was a sibling duel with Johannes Faltermaier, who suffered a 0:3 defeat with his partner Anna Ledwoch.

Theresa Faltermaier/Schäfer had to give up a set in the semifinals against Luna Brüller/Max Keller before it came to a highly dramatic final against Lea-Marie Schultz/Linus Dreykorn.

With a 2:2 set tie and a 6:10 deficit, Theresa Faltermaier/Schäfer were able to fend off four match points and finally won the fifth round by a hair's breadth with 12:10 points.

In doubles, Faltermaier played alongside Lilli Sara Popp from Versbach.

In the quarterfinals, it was obvious that the two had never played together before, and they lost the first set.

But in the end there was a 3:1 victory.

In the semifinals it was against the favored sisters Sophie and Svenja Schirm.

Again, the first set had to be handed in, and again there was ultimately a 3-1 win.

In the final, Lea-Marie Schultz and Luna Brüller were waiting for a strong, well-established pairing.

This time, however, Faltermaier/Popp won the first set, but then had to give up the second.

In the third round they prevailed 12:10 and made everything clear in the fourth set.

The individual competition started with the group stage.

Against the defender Anda Qeku, Theresa Faltermaier offered a convincing performance and unexpectedly won in three sets (11:6, 11:2, 11:6).

Marie Scheerer then had to acknowledge Erdinger's dominance at 0:3, as did Emilia Schönfelder (0:3).

The next day, Theresa Faltermaier had a bye as group winner before she faced her doubles partner Popp in the quarter-finals.

The Erdinger was able to build on her good performances from the day before and swept her opponent off the plate in three sets (11:3, 11:9, 12:10).

In the semifinals, Lea-Marie Schultz was an opponent against whom Faltermaier had lost the last point game.

But this time she unexpectedly gave her no chance with 4:0 sets (11:9, 11;7, 11:8, 12:10).

In the final, the 16-year-old Ukrainian Olha Ponko, who made it to the final with ease, was waiting.

In the first set it looked like a clear affair for Ponko, as she dominated the Erdinger at 11:2 at will.

After the set break, Faltermaier was able to implement the tactical guidelines of her mother and supervisor Conny Faltermaier better, but had to admit defeat with 9:11 points.

Undeterred, however, she continued to fight.

An 11:5 in the third set was followed by a 9:11 in the fourth round, but the girl from Erding didn't let that deter her.

With a tight 11:9 and nerve-racking 13:11, she managed to equalize the set 3:3 and won the decisive seventh round with 11:8 points.

Her brother Johannes Faltermaier also played a great tournament, but ultimately had a lot of bad luck.

After the 16-year-old had to admit defeat to his little sister in mixed, he made it into the quarter-finals in doubles alongside David Fischer.

In the round of 16, the two fended off several match points against Schäfer/Popp and won 3:2.

In the quarterfinals against Fu/Funkert, Faltermaier/Popp managed to save themselves in the fifth set after defending against a few match points, but then had to admit defeat.

The individual competition was just as unfortunate for the Erdinger.

After convincing victories against Maxim Haag (3:0) and Rufus Funkert (3:1), number two on the seed list, national player Konrad Haase, was waiting.

Faltermaier made a lightning start and won the first set 11:2.

After a 5:11 in the second, an unfortunate 10:12 in the third and a clear 11:4 in the fourth round, the fifth set had to bring the decision.

After falling behind and defending two match balls, Johannes Faltermaier was able to equalize to 10:10, but then had to give up the game with 10:12 points.
