Israeli national team swimmer Yaakov Tomarkin qualified tonight (between Wednesday and Thursday) for the semi-finals of the World Championships in Short Pools in Melbourne, Australia.
The 30-year-old Olympic finalist did it in the 100 individual medley, when he rose from tenth place overall with a fast time of 52.38 seconds, only 21 hundredths off the Israeli record.
The semifinal match will be held today at 12:14 Israel time.
More from the Israeli angle tonight - Miron Haruti jumped to a second stroke for him, 50 meter backstroke.
He did set a good time of 24.12 seconds, faster than his personal best, but was disqualified due to an underwater dive longer than 15 meters after the jump.
My freedom remains in the 50 meter freestyle competition.
