The Syrian weightlifting team achieved 45 different medals, 18 silver and 27 bronze medals on the first day of the Arab Weightlifting Championship, which is currently being held in Al-Jalaa Hall in Damascus.

The first day of the championship included female competitions. In the weight of 40 kg, the Yemeni Rukia Hani won three gold medals, and in the weight of 45 kg, the Egyptian Basma Ramadan came in first place with three golds, followed by the Syrian Ghina Fayyad with three silvers and the Syrian Sidra Daaboul with three bronzes, and in the category of young women with the same weight, the Yemeni got Rokaya Ali won three golds, the Syrian Hala Suleiman won three silvers, and the Palestinian Hala Dibo won three bronzes.

In the 55 kg competitions, the Egyptian juniors category, Aya Muhammad, achieved the first places with three golds, the Yemeni, Kabul Anbar with three silvers, and the Syrian Dima Zarqa with three bronzes. Amber with three bronzes.

In the 59 kg weight competition, Egyptian Haneen Ahmed won the first place in the junior category with three golds, followed by her compatriot Nima Ahmed with three silvers, then the Syrian Aya Jagili with three bronzes, and in the category of young women, Hanin Ahmed came first with three golds, then Nima Ahmed with three silvers and Aya Jagili with three bronzes as well, and in the women’s category she continued Hanin Ahmed excelled and won the first place with three golds, followed by Nima Ahmed with three silvers, then the Syrian Roboua Suleiman with three bronzes.

In the 60 kg category of young women, the Egyptian Malak Muhammad achieved first place with three golds, followed by the Syrian Zain Al-Dar Asaad with three silvers and the Palestinian Rand Suleiman with three bronzes. And in the women’s category, Malak Muhammad with three golds, then the Syrian Hanin Ihsan with three silvers, and the Syrian Zain Al-Dar Asaad with three bronzes.

In the 71 kg competitions in the junior category, Jana Judeh of Egypt won first place, then Weam Qandil from Jordan and Syria’s Sally Hussein won three bronzes. Mary Hassan with three silvers and Harmony Qandil with three bronzes.
