Australian Open: matches start on open courts after rain

Matches of the third day of the Australian Open scheduled for Wednesday on open courts began at 5:15 p.m. local time (7:15 a.m. in Paris), more than six hours late due to rain.

Only the matches scheduled on the courts with a roof (Rod Laver, Margaret Court, John Cain) took place normally.

Already the day before, a heat wave followed by heavy rain had prevented the smooth running of the outdoor games.
