If you want to throw the discus particularly far, you need strength, but also a sense of rhythm. At the Istaf in Berlin, four women competed against a quartet of men. The result was unequivocal – best distance included.

The women didn't give the men a chance in the discus ring: The women's quartet clearly won the unusual gender comparison against four men at the Istaf Indoor Athletics Indoor Meeting in Berlin on Friday evening.

Shanice Craft from SV Halle threw 65.23 meters even further than a woman in the hall before, but official records are not kept.

Olympic silver medalist Kristin Pudenz threw the discus 63.24 meters in the Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Daniel Jasinski was the best for the men with 62.81 meters.

In the direct duels there were two points for the winner and one point for the loser.

In the end it was 31:21 for the women.

"It's a bit of a different competition," said Pudenz before the competition.

You could tease yourself a little and miss a little dig.

Curious: The duel against their club colleague Henning Prüfer from Potsdam ended in a draw with 59.07 meters each.

The fight between the sexes in the discus throw had not been as clear as it was this year.

The women narrowly won the first comparison in 2019.

The second duel went to the men's team in 2020, although Shanice Craft had already improved Nadine Müller's unofficial indoor world record (63.89 meters, discus duel 2019) (64.03 meters).
