Guirassy scores from the spot: VfB take the lead after penalty
57th minute: Wow for VfB! Palacios brings down Endo on the edge of the penalty area, so that referee Willenborg immediately points to the spot. Guirassy grabs the ball and lobs into the middle to make it 1-0. Hradecky almost got his foot on it.
52nd minute: Stuttgart threatens to lose the ball in the forward gear, but Endo pays attention and grabs the leather. He drives the ball forward and sends Tomas, whose finish misses miserably to the left.
46th minute: The ball is rolling again.
Mid-term conclusion: For VfB Stuttgart, a game of patience is emerging. The Swabians needed something to find their way into the game. However, the longer it lasted, the more the Hoeneß squad had the ball. Leverkusen, on the other hand, withdrew further and further in a game with few chances.

39th minute: After a corner from the left, Endo heads past on the right. Leverkusen are hardly showing themselves in terms of offense at the moment.
35th minute: VfB get closer to goal. Silas again on the left, who serves Guirassy. Stuttgart's attacker takes the measure and shoots well over.
33rd minute: VfB have the chance to counterattack via Silas and the Congolese has actually already left Tapsoba behind. Then the Leverkusen defender gets a foot in between.

28th minute: Silas steals the ball from Tapsoba on the left near the corner flag and passes it to Endo, who gets stuck with his pass.

Endo misses huge opportunity
17th minute: That was a huge chance for VfB! Vagnoman sends Silas deep on the left, who strays a bit off track, but finds Endo in the back area. Instead of the Japanese shooting in, he kicks the ball.
12th minute: Leverkusen continue to squeeze and constrict VfB. Stuttgart has been frighteningly harmless so far.

Karazor returns to VfB, Mavropanos continues to be sidelined
At VfB Stuttgart, Atakan Karazor returns to the starting line-up after his suspension, replacing Genki Haraguchi. Konstantinos Mavropanos, meanwhile, is still out due to his shin injury. Hoeneß gave the all-clear, at least in principle: "But the course is good. I'm cautiously optimistic that he might be an option for Mainz." Meanwhile, Dan-Axel Zagadou, who recently had problems with his patellar tendon, returned to training on Thursday and will probably be available.

Ahead of the VfB game, B04 coach Xabi Alonso is likely to rotate
Leverkusen will face AS Roma in the Europa League semi-finals on Thursday evening (11 May). The second leg is already scheduled for next week, which is why coach Alonso is likely to rotate heavily. For Leverkusen, it's important to manage the balancing act between the Rome game and the Bundesliga. After all, B04 is still in the league for the European places. For VfB, the double burden of the favourites from Leverkusen could be an opportunity.

VfB Stuttgart need turnaround in season finale
Stuttgart - Initially, VfB Stuttgart had stabilised under coach Sebastian Hoeneß and remained unbeaten in five competitive games in a row. But last week, the Swabians suffered two setbacks. First, VfB failed in the DFB Cup semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-3), before conceding a painful 1-2 defeat in the all-important basement duel at Hertha BSC. So the turnaround against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday (15.30 CET) is needed to avoid losing further ground in the relegation battle.
