FC Bayern fans at the match in Bremen: Ignition of distress flares leads to control of 380 people

A week after the operation, for example, the responsible Bremen police were asked whether they were "on fire", as well as the message "Bremen police: The V stands for proportionality" was shown. What happened? FC Bayern fans lit several distress flares at the start of the 2nd half at the Weserstadion last Saturday (6 May), prompting the police officers present to file criminal charges for violations of the Explosives Act.

On the way back from Munich's victorious Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen, six coaches with around 380 fans of FC Bayern A27 were stopped and ordered into a check, as the police may have wanted to locate the people involved. The search of the buses, which was aimed at finding pyrotechnic objects and in which explosives dogs were also used, is said to have dragged on late into the night.

FC Bayern fans at the away game in Bremen: Legal assistance speaks of unlawful use

"Imagine detaining people in Germany until 3 a.m. during a check, only to search the bus for a few minutes. Alone in the toilet? Not possible, of course... But you can do it with football fans...", commented the fan umbrella organization Club No. 12 via Twitter. In addition, all 380 people were subjected to identification treatment, i.e. they had to hand over their personal details on suspicion of a crime.

Club No. 12 received support in their view from the Grün-Weiße Hilfe e.V., an association that advises football fans of Werder Bremen on legal issues and problems with the police. He commented on the operation via Twitter: "Large-scale police operation at the gates of Bremen. Hundreds of FC Bayern fans are detained and subjected to ED treatment. We consider the measure to be clearly illegal."

FC Bayern fans at the visit to Bremen: Police defend action

The Bremen police defend their actions. The offences committed during the match would have led to a considerable risk to sub-participants in the spectator area under the away block. For example, the affected spectator area would have had to be partially cleared during the burning of the torches. According to the police, the investigation would continue. (nki)
