Bundesliga debut with top odds

2023-05-15T15:17:45.417Z

Highlights: Louis Oberosler made his Bundesliga debut for the Bergischer HC in Flensburg. The 20-year-old goalkeeper from Dachau saves 33 percent of all shots. Louis is the clear number one goalkeeper for the third division club Opladen. The BHC coach had sent him to the field in the game towards the end of the first half. The other regular goalkeeper of the Berg Fischer HC, Christopher Rudeck, had signed off sick. Louis was able to parry 33% of the shots, a very decent yield that is simply excellent.

Six years ago he played for TSV Dachau 1865 and now handball goalkeeper Louis Oberosler made his Bundesliga debut - a very successful one.

Dachau – Suddenly, he was standing between the posts in the Flens Arena in Flensburg, outside 6000 euphoric spectators, and over there, in the other team, handball superstars such as world champion Emil Jakobsen from Denmark or perhaps the best playmaker on the planet, the Swede Jim Gottfridsson. It's no wonder that Louis Oberosler got weak knees at first. But not for long! "I immediately blocked the second ball, and then the nervousness was gone."

Around 35 minutes later, Louis' Bundesliga debut was over. The 20-year-old from Dachau in goal for the Bergischer HC was then able to look forward to plenty of words of praise, including from Jamal Naji. The BHC coach had sent Oberosler to the field in the game in Flensburg towards the end of the first half. The other HC goalkeeper Peter Johannesson had hardly got a hand on the ball before, but had also been left alone again and again by his defensively unfortunately extremely reserved colleagues.

"The fact that I was supposed to play all of a sudden came as a surprise," said Louis Oberosler, who had prepared himself for 60 minutes on the bench. Three days earlier, Naji had told him that he, Louis, was going with him to the far north. Christopher Rudeck, the other regular goalkeeper of the Bergischer HC, had signed off sick.

First league instead of third league. Louis Oberosler plays with the right to play for the third division club Opladen, where he is the clear number one.

The Bundesliga premiere was lost quite clearly. It was 17:30 p.m. after 60 minutes, SG-Flensburg-Handewitt, winners of the Champions League in 2014 and three-time German champions, lived up to their role as favorites.

Louis will be able to get over the defeat. The impressions he was able to gather in the Flens Arena are too positive. "The spectators, the atmosphere, the level, it's all very different from the third division."

What was not much different: the quota of goalkeeper talent, who once started with handball at TSV Dachau in 1865. Louis was able to parry 33 percent of the shots, a very decent yield that is simply excellent for a Bundesliga debutant. At one point, the young BHC goalkeeper also remained the winner in the one-on-one duel with Johannes Golla. The captain of the German national handball team came free at the circle to throw, Louis fended off with his right leg.

"It's already gone great," says Louis about his first appearance in the handball upper house. Further appeals are likely to follow.
