Highlights: Cardiff City has been ordered to pay €17 million to FC Nantes for the death of striker Emiliano Sala. The decision was made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), at first instance and on appeal. The Welsh club has now taken the matter to the Commercial Court of Nantes. The case is set to be heard on June 22, with a verdict expected within two weeks. The club says it has the right to change the amount if it does not receive the payment.

After having made white cabbage before the Swiss justice, the Welsh club has seized the Commercial Court of Nantes and claims more than € 100 million to the Canaries.

Emiliano Sala case, continued. It was believed that the Cardiff club had exhausted all possible remedies, while FIFA ordered it to pay the €17 million owed to FC Nantes in connection with the transfer of the late Emiliano Sala, who died on January 21, 2019 in the crash of a small tourist plane. The Welsh team's appeals had been rejected by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), at first instance and on appeal. This time, Cardiff, 21st (out of 24) in the Championship (2nd English division), applies to the Commercial Court of Nantes. And this to claim "the sum, to be perfected, of 100 million euros with interest at the legal rate, from the judgment, in respect of the loss of income suffered" according to a summons to appear consulted and relayed by the sports daily L'Equipe. Summons set for June 22.

Relentlessness

"moral prejudice"! All while not failing to add that "The CCFC reserves the right to change the amount of its request, in the event that it is condemned to pay the other two instalments provided for in the contract (6 and 5 M€ excluding interest)." Recall that the death of the 28-year-old Argentine striker is still the subject of a preliminary investigation. For the rest, the lawyers of the FCN denounce the "relentlessness" of Cardiff via L'Équipe, being however "very serene on the analysis that will make the Commercial Court". Regretting "the opening of a new absurd judicial front", they promise to "seek compensation for the damage that this abusive procedure causes him". The story is far from over...
