Highlights: TSV Eching celebrated the championship in the district league and the associated promotion. Sydney Lohmann, national player and footballer of FC Bayern Munich, congratulated the newly crowned district league champions on Sunday evening. The Zebras had held on to coach Alexander Günther in the summer and had given some young talents from their youth team the chance. "This confirms our path after relegation," sums up division boss Peter Hanrieder. With two matchdays to go, the Echinger can no longer take first place.

In the midst of the sprawling championship and promotion celebrations, TSV Eching received congratulations via video from Bayern professional and national player Sydney Lohmann.

Eching – All of a sudden, there was this video on Instagram: "TSV Eching, congratulations on promotion. Celebrate beautifully." Sydney Lohmann, national player and footballer of FC Bayern Munich, also congratulated the newly crowned district league champions on Sunday evening. The video was organized by supervisor Verena Holzapfel. Of course, the zebras didn't have to be told twice about the party.

TSV Eching: Head of department Hanrieder praises the coaching team

Less than a year ago, a real epidemic season culminated in relegation to the district league. But eleven months later, the Black and Whites secured the championship and direct promotion quite confidently. "Of course, this confirms our path after relegation," sums up division boss Peter Hanrieder. The Zebras had held on to coach Alexander Günther in the summer. In addition, TSV had not signed numerous external players, but had given some young talents from their own youth team the chance. A path that should pay off. With two matchdays to go, the Zebras can no longer take first place. "In the end, this is above all a great merit of our coaching team - and that at their first station in responsibility," the head of department ennobles his coach and his playing assistant Stefan Karl.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Why it worked out with the prompt resurgence, master coach Günther has some explanations. On the one hand, everyone in the team knew about their role: "The leading players anyway, but also the young ones," said Günther. On the other hand, in some situations you also had the necessary luck in the game. Not only once did the Echinger win narrowly in the end - but mostly not undeservedly. "But you also have to work for such luck." The reward: Since the twelfth matchday, the Echinger have been at the top of the table - and thus more than deservedly promoted. And when did it become clear that it could be something with the district league return? The coach has to think about it for a long time, but then comes to the last match before the winter break: The Echinger won 2-1 against FC Eitting. "That's when I said to myself that it could be something."

TSV Eching: Captain Manuel Joos announces "full throttle" after the last game

Another big pound: With currently only 19 goals conceded, the Zebras are by far the best defense in the league. "That was a cohesive performance by the whole team, not just the back four," praised Hanrieder.

Of course, the jubilation on Sunday was also great among the protagonists. Captain Manuel Joos answered reporters' questions on Monday: "It's good that you didn't call earlier". And the relief is great that it worked out in advance with the championship title. "The team was already very sure," said the 31-year-old. "But I was afraid that we would end up in a maelstrom." Joos' reasons for success: On the one hand, TSV functioned as a team, everyone in the team was appreciated. "On the other hand, the young players – our 'Kids Club', as we call it – really got into it." Especially after some experienced players were out due to injury.

In any case, the party on Sunday evening is not enough: After the last match against Allershausen, there will be another one. "Then we'll go full throttle," promises the captain. And the people of Echingen can then return the favor with a message of greeting - because Sydney Lohmann is also on the verge of winning the championship in the Bundesliga. BY MATTHIAS SPANRAD
