Borussia Dortmund would like to part ways with defensive flop Nico Schulz, who is currently receiving a high salary at BVB, despite a current contract.
Dortmund – With two games to go before the end of the season, Borussia Dortmund are still in the midst of a championship battle with FC Bayern Munich. Some players who have been disappointing in the past in a BVB jersey have played a major role in Dortmund's flight of fancy this season. Marius Wolf, who recently spoke openly about his heart surgery, is one of those players. Left-back Nico Schulz, on the other hand, was unable to improve and is expected to leave the club in the summer, as Bild reports.

€25m misunderstanding: Nico Schulz has been disappointing at BVB for four years
In the summer of 2019, Nico Schulz moved from TSG Hoffenheim to Borussia Dortmund in the Ruhr area for 25.5 million euros. The 30-year-old was unable to justify the high amount at any time, making him one of the biggest transfer flops in the club's history.
The twelve-time Germany international has not been in the BVB squad once this season. In total, the left-footer only made 61 appearances in four years with Dortmund, scoring just one goal and assisting three goals.

Contract until 2024: Nico Schulz's BVB exit will probably be expensive for Dortmund
Nico Schulz's contract with Borussia Dortmund actually runs until 2024. His salary, according to the report, is about six million euros. This makes the professional one of the top earners of the German heavyweight. It's no wonder that BVB would even like to let their player leave on a free transfer one year before the end of his contract next summer. Last winter, a transfer to Lazio was imminent, with Borussia taking over part of the salary. But the deal fell through.
Whether the Black and Yellows will find a buyer for the permanent reserve Schulz is still up in the air after a year without match practice. In any case, the market value of the defender has fallen sharply. In the summer of 2019, he changed clubs for 25.5 million euros, but today his market value is estimated by the portal transfermarkt.de at two million euros.
