The European Rowing Championships, which combine Olympic and Paralympic competition, kicked off today (Thursday) in Bled, Slovenia, with the participation of five Israeli athletes.
Moran Samuel, the silver medalist from the Paralympic Games in Tokyo two years ago, led the 1400 meters, but ended up finishing second with a time of 10:20.56 minutes and will participate in the semifinals tomorrow.
Samuel Daniel, competing in the men's Paralympic Skiff, placed fourth in the qualifying round with 9:55.99. In this event, it is only about determining the routes to the finals, because of the small number of participants.
The one who wants to be the first Israeli rower at the Olympics is Danny Friedman, who meanwhile finished the qualifying stage in sixth place, with a time of 7:39.65. He will participate in the consolation house, aiming to take his place in the semi-finals.
