He stood in front of empty tables and chairs with school bags, notebooks and stationery on them, and read out the names of the kidnapped children.
Next door was a white plaque inscribed with the names of the 38 abducted children. "Every name is a whole world," Katan explained, "It's a difficult, sad, scary time with a lot of uncertainty and a very great sense of revenge, but also with a great belief that the IDF will do its job properly.

"The difficult situation is something that happened to two teachers from the south, who stood in front of the list of students and the magnitude of the disaster slapped them in the face, when they realized that there was an unimaginable amount of deficiencies. Now, the hope is that at least the children will be released in the first stage with the deal brewing between Israel and the countries that mediate between it and Hamas terrorists."
