Handball League returns: due to the war there will be only one round
The management of the Handball Association announced today (Thursday) ahead of the resumption of the games, a change in the system of games, all this two days before its opening. Due to the schedule and the resumption of the top division 7 weeks since the third round, the regular league will consist of one round of matches (11 rounds - 8 remaining as of Friday). At its conclusion, the league will be divided into an upper house (top six) and a lower house (last six).
At the end of the 10 rounds of the group stage, the top 4 will advance to the play-off semi-finals (best-of-3 series) and the two winners will advance to the final series (best-of-5 matches). At the bottom - it was decided to be relegated to the National League (instead of two). The proposal to freeze relegations was rejected. Another decision made is that a foreign player who left due to the state of war will only be able to return to Israel this season to the team where he started the league.
One of the largest basketball arenas in Israel and an athletics stadium will be built in Petah Tikva
Petah Tikva Mayor Rami Greenberg announced Wednesday morning the construction of a series of new sports facilities in the city, as a branding for the "Sports and Health City." One of the main projects will be the construction of a basketball arena, which will be built next to the football stadium and will contain 4000,<> seats and will be one of the five largest halls in Israel, after the Hall of Pais in Jerusalem, the Menorah Hall in Tel Aviv, the Toto Arena in Holon and Romema in Haifa.
In addition, in the new Nof Yarkon neighborhood, four standard football fields will be built. Two medium courts and two large courts, one of which will be combined with an athletics track, which will include a tribune of 2500 seats, and next to it is an annex building with changing rooms, coaches' and referees' rooms, administrative offices, cafeteria and more. In the same neighborhood, a large community country club will be built that will include swimming pools, sports fields, class rooms, a climbing wall, grass complexes and more. The new educational institutions in the neighborhood will incorporate sports halls that will serve the residents and the entire community.
