On 13 February 2022, Carlos Alussan of Real Madrid tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a league match against Málaga. Today, 21 months after that day, the young point guard once again set foot on a basketball court.
Alussan's recovery went slower than usual, and included several recurring injuries. That meant Real Madrid - who trusted the point guard and renewed the player's contract until 2025 - acted cautiously. The club delayed his return until he reached the optimal level to reappear.
Immediately after the injury, Alusan underwent surgery, after which the best predictions indicated that he would be absent for only seven months. But that didn't happen, and on the anniversary of the injury, he wrote on Twitter: "Today it's been a year since I played my last basketball game. A year since my injury. A year of many ups and downs and complex moments along the way, but a year of continuous learning. There's still a long way to go, maybe a little longer than I expected, but it's closer."

The road came to an end on Sunday when the young guard stepped onto the floor 3 minutes into the first quarter in a game in which Real Madrid beat Andorra 76-85. Despite applause from the fans, the revived debut was not welcoming to Alussan, who scored just one point in 7:35 minutes on the court.
On Tuesday, Real Madrid will host Maccabi Tel Aviv at the Pioneer Arena in Belgrade. The condition of Tamir Blatt and John DiBartolomeo, who was absent from the loss to Barcelona, is unclear and they are doubtful for the game, the medical staff is making great efforts to train them and a decision will be made close to the game.
