The Tokyo Grand Prix closed the judo competition season for 2023, and Israel comes out of it with its head held high and an impressive bronze medal signed by Raz Hershko, for which it was a great year of progress and achievements. She stepped onto the podium after showing great ability and deserved to finish the season so beautifully.

In the battle for the bronze medal (78 kg and above), Japan's Hikaru Kodama, the former world junior champion, was waiting for Hershko, but the Israeli was not moved. It took her only 13 seconds to win the fight with a sharp reset, and she quickly signaled to the photographers the Israeli flag sewn to her judo suit. Hershko had hoped to finish the season with gold, but was stopped in the semifinals, before going on to a successful battle for bronze.
Timna Nelson Levy (up to 57 kg) also came into the bronze-medal match. She did so through the consolation house after losing in the quarterfinals. Facing the contender for a podium spot was Canada's Jessica Climkeit, ranked second in the world. The battle was decided thanks to an early Wazari by Klimkeit, and Nelson Levy settled for fifth place.
