Leah Polonsky set a new Israeli record in the 200-meter butterfly on Saturday night, finishing ninth (first in the B final) at the US Open that ended in North Carolina. Polonsky, 21, set a time of 2:10.80, breaking Karen Siebner's record of 2016:2.11 set in May 04.
Aviv Barzeli finished seventh in the final of the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:10.72, setting the criteria for the World Championships in Doha in February. Anastasia Gorbenko finished ninth (first in the B final) with 2:10.99 minutes and also swam faster than the criteria for Doha. David Graczyk finished 17th in the men's parallel swim with a time of 2:00.73.

To date, five swimmers have secured their places at the Olympic Games in Paris: Gorbenko, Tomer Frankel, Denis Loktev, Gal Cohen Gromi and Meron Heruti, with the next big target supposed to be the World Championships in Qatar, but even now it is unknown what will happen to Israel's participation.
