Shock and shock in the cycling community: Australian cyclist and Olympic medalist Melissa Dennis was killed after being hit by a car in North Adelaide, not far from her home. The driver of the vehicle was none other than Denise's husband, Australian Olympic cyclist Rohan Dennis, who was accused by police of causing her death.

The couple married near Perth in 2018 and have a son and daughter. Melissa Denise has won a slew of career titles, both in road racing and velodrome. She was a world champion in the team pursuit, participated twice in the Olympic Games, retired at the end of 2017 and the following year married her partner. Rohan Dennis is a very well-known cyclist in the cycling world, was twice the world champion in riding against the clock, and won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. He won sections in all three Grand Tours.
Local media in Adelaide provided additional details this morning, saying police determined the victim was on the hood of the car and then grabbed the door handle while driving. Fingerprints have already been found on the alleged hood. Dennis did not stop and continued driving the car, causing Melissa to be dragged, until she fell to the ground and was hit. It is believed that the incident was documented (in part) by security cameras belonging to local residents. The neighborhood where the incident took place is considered very affluent. Two teenagers who live nearby claim to have taken care of the woman immediately.

Dennis has previously revealed that he suffered from mental health issues, including during the Tour de France, and even admitted that they almost led to a divorce. He also said he suffered from eating disorders during his career. In 2019, he abruptly retired from the Tour de France, in a decision "shrouded in mystery". He is known on the tour as a "hot-tempered rider who used to quarrel with his opponents and team leaders", according to Dutch media. Rochelle Gilmour, Hoskins' close friend and manager, said: "From the moment she started dating Rohn, she was 100 per cent committed to all the problems and difficulties he went through in his career."
According to the Australian website 7NEWS, one of the versions that emerges is that there was an argument between the two, and she tried to stop the vehicle, prevent it from driving, and hung on the hood before being hit and killed. It was also claimed in Australia that he was supposed to be a backup vehicle driving behind her, but she made a mistake that caused him to run her over.
