Colleagues and athletes say goodbye to Dickson
There is great sympathy over the sudden death of tennis reporter Mike Dickson at the Australian Open.
His employer, the British
Daily Mail,
published an obituary entitled “Goodbye Mr. Wimbledon.”
The newspaper's sports director Lee Clayton says of his long-time employee: "Dicko was everything you would want in a reporter - a brilliant sleuth, a great writer and a friend to many in his sport." Dickson was in almost 30 sports 50 countries on the road for the newspaper.
Former tennis greats such as former player Laura Robson also expressed their sadness: “Really devastating news.
I can’t believe it.” The Australian Open in Melbourne is the first Grand Slam tournament of the year, in which German tennis players also take part.
