Kitzbühel – Curtain up for the Streif!
For the third time in a row, two runs will take place on the famous route in Kitzbühel; on Friday (January 19th) and Saturday (January 20th) the world skiing elite will race down the demanding course.
This weekend is certainly one of the highlights for the fans, but athletes and experts complain about the high level of stress.

And so there was a shocking moment during training.
The Israeli Barnabas Szollos lost his helmet and skis in his fall and suffered several facial fractures.
Rémi Cuche, nephew of Kitz record winner Didier, was also unable to finish his run and tore his cruciate ligament.
On Friday at the “Kitzbühel Downhill” and on Saturday at the famous “Hahnenkamm Race”, the other ski racers hope to stay injury-free and achieve a good result.
The Swiss Marco Odermatt certainly has the best chance of achieving this, as he leads the overall World Cup by a wide margin after the withdrawal of some major competitors due to injury.
He might be happy about the leadership, but certainly not about the circumstances.

Departure in Kitzbühel: Numerous celebrities expected at prestigious races
In the past few weeks, several bad falls have led to serious injuries and the end of the respective athletes' seasons.
Just last weekend in Wengen, Norwegian ski star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde lost control and flew into the safety nets shortly before the finish.
A short time later he showed the full extent of his horror fall and said: “I have never experienced such pain before.” The day before Kilde's fall, French ski star Alexis Pinturault had already torn his cruciate ligament in the Super-G.
Nevertheless: The organizers in Kitzbühel are looking forward to an increase in spectators due to the two departures on the weekend, including numerous celebrities.
Bastian Schweinsteiger and his friend Felix Neureuther, for example, were already testing the conditions.
