After Kilde's serious crash in Wengen, teammate Sejersted surprised with a top result.

Two ski legends are thrilled.

Wengen –

The Norwegian ski star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde was seriously injured in a major fall during the World Cup downhill in Wengen.

After a long break, his teammate Adrian Smiseth Sejersted was next in the starting box.

Undeterred, the Norwegian finished fourth and surprised two ski legends with his mental strength.

After Sturuz from Kilde, Sejersted impressed with his best performance

“It was heartbreaking to watch the fall and a reminder of how brutal this sport is,” wrote Kjetil Jansrud, who was very worried about Kilde, on his Instagram account.

But he also praised Sejersted's strong performance: “Your friend falls, you wait a long time in uncertainty for the start and watch the helicopter take off towards Bern - then you pull yourself together and deliver the best downhill result of your career.

That was very impressive.”

Svindal was also impressed by Adrian Smiseth Sejersted and his performance after Kilde's crash: “Sejersted took fourth place immediately after his teammate's crash.

That’s mental strength,” said the multiple Olympic champion and world champion, who ended his career in 2019.

For Sejersted, it was a race he will probably remember for a long time.

“Crazy race!

I have mixed feelings.

Our team captain Kilde falls badly.

Please recover quickly.

Then my personal best in the downhill with a 4th place.

I am very happy with my run.

Thank you for great days, Wengen,” he wrote on Instagram.

Ski star Kilde will be out for a long time with a torn cruciate ligament

In the case of Kilde, team members, competitors and spectators initially hoped that he had been spared a serious injury.

“I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the injuries aren’t that bad,” wrote Svindal, for example.

Kilde was lucky in misfortune: the Norwegian “only” dislocated his shoulder and suffered a cut on his calf.

The season is still over for him.
