The German hockey men are expecting a heated game against Pakistan.
The winner is guaranteed the Olympic ticket.
Al Amarat - Before the first match point in the Olympic qualifying tournament in Oman against Pakistan, coach Andre Henning is worried about injuries.
“We still have a few construction sites,” said the national hockey coach before the semi-final against the three-time Olympic champion.
In addition to Lukas Windfeder, who was injured shortly before the start of the tournament, Henning is worried about the use of Christopher Schütt and Theo Hinrichs.
Pakistan is also a challenging team.
“This is a very unorthodox and technically strong team that acts very boldly and fights back with a certain amount of toughness,” said Henning.
The tournament was originally supposed to take place in Pakistan.
Then a duel against the hosts would have been an unforgettable event.
“We would have played in front of 50,000 spectators,” said Henning.
With a win, the men can secure their ticket to Paris as the second DHB selection after the German women's team.
Otherwise there is a second chance in the game for third place.
Great Britain and New Zealand face each other in the second semi-final.
The best three teams in the eight-person tournament will take part in the Olympics.
