Franz Beckenbauer meant a lot to Bastian Schweinsteiger.

He advised him to move to the USA.

And Stephan Beckenbauer showed him the way in the FCB youth team.

Munich - Around two weeks after Franz Beckenbauer's death, the big memorial service in honor of the emperor took place.

Numerous personalities from politics and sport commemorated him.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was among them.

The 39-year-old was among eleven former players who laid roses on the pitch at the Allianz Arena at the start of the memorial ceremony.

He then thanked Beckenbauer and his late son Stephan with a special dedication.

With tears in their eyes, some of the Emperor's long-time companions, including Rainer Bonhof, Paul Breitner and Franz "Bulle" Roth, remembered the shining light of German football and paid their last respects to Beckenbauer.

But they weren't the only ones who found it visibly difficult to walk onto the lawn of the Munich stadium on Friday afternoon.

Schweini also tried to keep his composure in the middle of the Allianz Arena.

He also had a special relationship with Beckenbauer.

Schweinsteiger recently revealed that he followed the emperor's advice when making an important career decision.

And Franz's son, Stephan Beckenbauer, also had a significant influence on the career of the now 39-year-old.

Without Beckenbauer's son, Schweinsteiger's career at FCB would never have existed

After the memorial service, Schweinsteiger revealed a groundbreaking tip on the ARD microphone.

This was once given to him by Stephan Beckenbauer, who died of a brain tumor in 2015 and who had trained the midfielder in Bayern's B youth team around the turn of the millennium: "I was 15 or 16 and had an offer from Hamburger SV, which was very lucrative.

But he said to me: 'Basti, be careful, go to school here and to the academy at Bayern Munich, that will help you more later.'"

Beckenbauer's son was right, as Schweinsteiger said: "Without his advice at the time, I would probably have done that and gone to Hamburger SV.

That's why I actually owe him the career that I was able to start at Bayern Munich." His glorious time with the record champions would therefore have been unthinkable without the Beckenbauers
