Alexander Zverev defeats Cameron Norrie and reaches the quarterfinals at the Australian Open.

A strange interruption caused a stir.

Melbourne – Easy matches?

This is relatively rare for Alexander Zverev.

The German number one particularly likes to make things exciting in the first rounds of Grand Slams - the current Australian Open is no exception.

The Hamburger won his round of 16 match against the Englishman Cameron Norrie in five sets, and the match tiebreak had to be used for the second time in the tournament.

Zverev match at Australian Open interrupted due to leaflet chaos

Positive: Zverev's fighting nature knows how to regularly pull his head out of the loop.

Negative: The long matches in the first rounds cost grains that are actually needed later for the matches against the top stars.

The Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz is now waiting in the quarterfinals.

The battle of nerves against Norrie on Monday was interrupted by an incident: because of a spectator protest, the two top players were unable to continue fighting for a moment.

In the middle of the third set, a spectator in the Margaret Court Arena threw leaflets onto the tennis court.

There was already a spectator scandal at a Zverev match at the last US Open.

Spectators drag the troublemaker from the stands: Zverev match can continue

As can be seen from the photos, this time it was a pro-Palestinian message.

“Free Palestine” was written on the leaflets.

When no stewards showed up, two other spectators stepped in and laboriously dragged the woman, who was wearing a mask and sunglasses, from the stands.

Loud applause erupted as the troublemaker was removed.

The game could be continued after about a minute.

Zverev and Norrie had an exciting fight, which the German won in front of his girlfriend Sophia Thomalla.

The Brit made too many mistakes in the tiebreak and ultimately made it easy for Zverev to advance to the quarter-finals in Melbourne.

One thing is clear: the 26-year-old has to improve against Alcaraz if his journey at the Australian Open is to continue.
