Saying goodbye to Franz Beckenbauer was a must for many TV viewers.
The broadcast of the funeral service brought the broadcasters an audience of millions.

A total of more than 3.7 million people watched the memorial service in honor of the late football emperor Franz Beckenbauer on television on Friday.
The event in Munich's Allianz Arena was broadcast in parallel by several broadcasters; 2.56 million watched on ARD alone and, according to the public broadcaster, ensured a market share of 21.3 percent.
Another 1.07 million saw the farewell on RTL and the offshoot n-tv, which is part of the broadcasting group.
There were further live broadcasts on the TV channels Welt (80,000 viewers) and Sky (50,000).

It will definitely be one of the most emotional afternoons in the recent history of FC Bayern Munich.
The record champions say goodbye to the “Kaiser” on Friday afternoon (from 3 p.m.) in the Allianz Arena.

“It was a great joy and a great honor to play alongside him,” said Paul Breitner, who will take part in the memorial service as one of many companions.
In addition to Breitner and honorary president Uli Hoeneß, who had a very special relationship with Beckenbauer, the 1974 soccer world champions include Günter Netzer, Wolfgang Overath and Rainer Bonhof in the stadium.
Hoeneß will speak about the life and work of the “Emperor”.

An hour before the start of the memorial service, which was attended by many football celebrities and representatives from abroad, brass bands played and the Tölzer Boys' Choir sang.
There will also be wreath-layings in memory of Beckenbauer.
“We now have a time of mourning,” said long-time Munich CEO and former teammate Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“We will miss him very much and we will never forget him,” said Söder.

After the three songs by Munich-born star tenor Jonas Kaufmann during the commemoration ceremony, it is planned that the Beckenbauer song “Good Friends” will be sung together in the stadium towards the end.
Around 50,000 fans will be there live in the Allianz Arena, entry opens at 12 p.m.
Due to special structures for the event, the normal capacity is reduced - the stadium can actually accommodate 75,000 people.
