How firmly is Thomas Tuchel still in the saddle at FC Bayern?

Internally, doubts about the coach are growing - but an early separation is currently out of the question.

Munich – The alarm bells have been ringing at FC Bayern since the 0-1 home game against Werder Bremen.

Winning the championship, which has been Munich's top priority for years, is in acute danger as they are currently seven points behind Leverkusen (as of January 23rd).

Added to this is the bitter cup loss against Saarbrücken.

In addition to the team, coach Thomas Tuchel is also being criticized - but he probably doesn't have to worry about his job for the time being.

Tuchel criticized at FC Bayern – Hoeneß wants consistency

According to a report in

Bild

, club patron Uli Hoeneß plays a crucial role.

The long-time manager and president is officially only employed by Bayern as a simple member of the supervisory board and honorary president, but his word still has great weight - especially when it comes to important personnel decisions such as that of the head coach.

That probably benefits Tuchel.

According to the report, Hoeneß is currently against firing the coach so that there can be more calm and stability in Bayern's coaching position.

After the dismissal of Tuchel's predecessor Julian Nagelsmann after just 21 months, Hoeneß wanted to prevent the coaching chair on Säbener Strasse from becoming an "ejection seat" - although Hoeneß himself also had doubts about Tuchel.

Nevertheless, Tuchel probably still has time to get the record champions back on track.

Bayern bosses probably doubt coach Tuchel

But doubts are apparently growing not only among Hoeneß, but also among the rest of the management team that Tuchel can lead the team to the desired successes in the future.

After the defeat against Bremen, even CEO Jan-Christian Dreeßen was surprisingly vocal in his criticism.

“We played 70 minutes of boring football and didn’t show the attitude that we need against every opponent,” said Dreeßen.

When asked about the statement, Tuchel reacted in a relaxed manner on Tuesday.

He has “a very good relationship” with Hoeneß and Dreeßen, the coach emphasized at the press conference before the catch-up game against Union Berlin.

“It’s no problem that he expresses his opinion (Dreesen; editor’s note), especially not when he’s right,” added Tuchel.

Fans dissatisfied – Bayern facing fateful game against Union

It is clear that Tuchel does not have much time to get the right results.

The 50-year-old not only has to convince the bosses of his work, but also get the fans behind him.

After the uninspired performance against Bremen, many supporters expressed criticism of the coach.

Tuchel was particularly attributed to the team's lack of further development.

Tuchel himself took the fans to task before the home game against Union.

“When we come to the stadium, I would like the opponent to play against our audience, but that is not the case,” he said, among other things, but also added: “It is also clear that we are responsible for the atmosphere to leave it in.”

On Wednesday evening, the Munich bosses and Hoeneß should take a close look to see whether the coach and team show a reaction.

Otherwise, Tuchel could soon end up like technical director Marco Neppe, whose contract will probably be terminated.
