Now the biathlon star is shooting back sharply.
Paris – It's just not Quentin Fillon Maillet's season yet.
The French biathlon star, who struggled with a persistent viral illness last year, also missed the podium at the World Cup in Antholz.
This winter, the two-time Olympic champion did not make it onto the podium once, although before the season he was considered one of the big challengers to the dominant Norwegians.

But it's not just him who has shown mixed performances so far, the entire French men's national biathlon team is well below expectations.
But this is not necessarily due to errors on the shooting range; Fillon Maillet, for example, cleared all the targets at the mass start in Antholz.
But on the course the difference to the top runners is simply huge.
Due to the sometimes poor performances, criticism of the biathlon star was inevitable.
Now Quentin Fillon Maillet has burst his collar because of this.
“Two years ago I was put on a pedestal as a biathlon god.
This season the criticism is loud.
I address the viewers who are quick to criticize.
If people are here to criticize us or imagine that it is too easy, then let them watch reality shows.
There they can vent and spread their poison,” he told the French daily

“If you think you're better than us, get a license from the French Ski Federation and try biathlon.
Maybe then you'll see the difficulty a little better," Fillon Maillet practically talked himself into a rage and turned directly to his critics.

“For those who are less courageous, I suggest applying to the FFS as a coach, technician, trainer or consultant.
But they should get off their sofa and stop giving advice,” he continued.

After the World Cup in Anzholz, Quentin Fillon Maillet and his teammates have some time to train and work on their form.
Because the World Cup is now on pause until the World Championships, which will take place from February 5th to 18th in Nove Mesto.
With a medal at the highlight of the season, the winter could still be a forgiving one for him.
