Before the Cross-Country Skiing World Cup in Oberhof, the Swedish team suffered a luggage breakdown.
A world champion took the situation with humor.
Oberhof – The Swedish cross-country skiing team had certainly imagined this trip to Germany differently: On the way to the World Cup weekend in Oberhof, the Scandinavians had to struggle with delays and flight cancellations that fell victim to the snow.
When the team finally arrived, the next bad surprise was waiting at the airport: a large part of the luggage had been lost.

So the athletes were left without their belongings in sub-zero temperatures.
“I basically have nothing.
I don't have any belongings of my own, apart from the ones I traveled in.
I had my ski boots in my hand luggage,” Emma Ribon told Swedish newspaper
Aftonbladet
.
The anger was particularly great because the athletes' luggage also contained important racing equipment.
“I'm a little worried about my things in my travel bag because I always have a lot of important things in it.
My glasses, without which I prefer not to take part in competitions, and my heart rate strap,” Ribom continued.

Cross-country skiing world champion Karlsson: “Then I’ll start naked”
In an emergency, world champion Frida Karlsson jumped to her teammates' side.
Since she had come to Oberhof via an alternative route, her luggage arrived as planned.
For the races, she gave some of her racing gear to her team members.
“If I give up any more, I’ll just start naked,” joked the 24-year-old.
Athlete Maja Dahlqvist also said that she had passed on some of her belongings to colleagues so that they could compete.
And she was still able to find something positive in the difficult situation.
“There's a good chance that one of my things will end up on the podium,” said Dahlqvist.

The stress over the lost luggage no longer seems to have had a major impact on the athletes during the races.
In the sprint, three Swedish runners stood at the top of the podium.
In the mass start a day later, Frida Karlsson was able to celebrate her first win of the season before the relay was also successful on the last day.
