At the Bayern press conference before the game against Leipzig, Thomas Tuchel mainly discussed his departure as coach.
Some statements make you sit up and take notice.
Munich - It was worth listening to FC Bayern's eagerly awaited first press conference after the announced departure of coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.
The Munich head coach expressed himself in a variety of ways, starting somewhat soberly but also becoming emotional at times during the PK before the Bundesliga game against RB Leipzig (Saturday, 6:30 p.m., Sky).
The decision-making process that has now been completed by the German record champions has not left Tuchel completely unscathed.

First of all, at the request of a Sky reporter, Tuchel reported how the designated separation came about.
He soberly states that he met with Bayern officials last Tuesday (February 20) before the team and finally the public were informed about the move on Wednesday.
“The reasons are: We are dissatisfied with the way we play, we are dissatisfied with the points tally and the three defeats in a row,” says Tuchel, outlining some of the reasons for his impending departure.
He is responsible for this, even if he does not believe he is “the only problem”.
After a query from Bayerischer Rundfunk about the team's reaction to the decision, Tuchel tried to straighten out a few things, especially regarding his standing with his players.
At the same time, he also seemed a bit perplexed by his team's recent performance: “I never had the feeling that we couldn't reach the team.
Or that there is a problem between the coach and the team.
We have a very diffuse picture.
We have a stark discrepancy between training and games.
As always, we trained at a good level.
I've sat here a few times and was convinced that we would deliver a top performance.
We couldn’t do that.”

Tuchel doubts that he “didn’t warm up” to FC Bayern
The previously felt helplessness in Thomas Tuchel's eyes continued throughout the press conference.
When asked whether it was “naïve” to accept the job at Bayern in the summer of 2023, the trainer reveals and analyzes: “It feels as if it is the first time that the development steps are not constantly visible.
We had an extreme injury situation.
We were convinced that we could take the team to the next level.
We didn’t manage to do that, so someone else will do it from summer onwards.”
A short time later, Tuchel appeared visibly touched when a journalist brought to him the hypothesis and partly widespread fan opinion that there was not really a “match” between the coach and FC Bayern.
He takes a quick breath and counters: "I think there's a little more to it than isolated fan opinions about whether I haven't warmed up here." His impression within the Bayern team is different, even if he can understand such opinions from outside.
However, many people would not see how he and his team influence the team.
He concludes sarcastically: “Then it means: He didn’t warm up.
If it’s that easy sometimes, then everything will be fine by summer at the latest.”

Tuchel's squad dissatisfaction
Towards the end of the meeting with the press, Tuchel once again vented his frustration with the composition of the squad: “We haven't even had the situation all season where players had to fight for their place because they know the position is filled twice.
Because they know I have to deliver.”
The outgoing FCB coach also added, who, among other things, would have liked a new addition in the so-called “Holding Six” position before the start of the season: “For us, everyone who comes to training is in the squad for the game.
That's not conducive to what we're all missing: the bite, the energy on the pitch.
That is certainly a big building block in the current situation.” The impression remains: Tuchel is hearing many deeper problems at Bayern than just the debate about himself.
He may not be completely wrong, but the relationship between coach Thomas Tuchel and the German record champions still has a number of misunderstandings to this day.
