Biathlon star Franziska Preuß has to take another break due to illness.
The 29-year-old will therefore not be competing in the individual in Oslo.
Oslo – The Biathlon World Cup in Nove Mesto is over, but the 2023/24 World Cup season is far from over.
The races continue in Oslo.
The German biathlon star Franziska Preuß will not compete in the individual event “due to infection symptoms,” said DSV team doctor Katharina Blume.
In addition to the individual event, a mass start will also be held at Holmenkollen.
Biathlon star has to miss race in Oslo
“The infection initially appeared in the area of the paranasal sinuses in Nove Mesto.
Franziska has been able to use the time well so far to relax,” Blume continued.
There is still hope for use in the mass start, but this is by no means guaranteed.
“There are still nine competitions left, six of which are overseas.
That's why we decide from day to day when it makes sense to enter the World Cup.
We use every additional day to recover,” explained the team doctor.
If Franziska Preuß were to miss both races in Oslo, the World Cup in Soldier Hollow would be the next chance for a comeback.
After the races in the USA, the World Cup in Canmore, Canada is on the agenda.

Things are not going well for Franziska Preuß again.
The theme has been running through the entire season.
It is the sixth competition cancellation due to illness this winter for the 29-year-old, who even had to abandon last season completely for health reasons.
Difficult season for German biathlon star
The current winter started promisingly, Preuß appeared in strong form early on and was able to achieve good results.
However, a corona infection forced her to take a break.
She then fought her way back and was back at the top of the World Cup before she fell back again at the World Championships in Nove Mesto, where she remained without a medal.

The 29-year-old, who has been active in the World Cup since 2013, will be happy when the season is over after the races in Soldier Hollow and Canmore.
Then she can recover and prepare specifically for the next winter - in which she will hopefully have fewer health problems.
