The operational activity included real-time monitoring of the lawyer - before and during the meeting. IPS intelligence unit detectives watched the lawyer hand the prisoner four wrapped packages that he had hidden in his shoes and hidden areas of his body.
At the end of the encounter, the prisoner's body was searched and packages containing about half a kilogram of a substance suspected of being a dangerous drug were seized. A search of the lawyer's car revealed another quarter kilo of the same substance. The lawyer was detained by a unit investigator and will be transferred to the police for further treatment.

We will continue to act with determination and professionalism by all legal means at our disposal to prevent smuggling into prisons and the presence of prohibited substances inside the prisons."
