The anthropologist, based in Beijing, has just written Un taoïste n'a pas d'ombre (Buchet-Chastel). This immense scholar, always with a youthful gaze, guided the steps of Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Beijing. It tells the story of an unofficial China, still alive under the ideological leaden screed.
LE FIGARO. - How long have you lived in China?
Patrice FAVA. - Time flies very quickly. I arrived in Beijing in 1970 as attaché at the Embassy of France, freshly graduated from Langues O. These past three years have been a royal road to do a lot of things, including documentary films, books. I completed my Chinese culture by going to Taiwan and Hong Kong, in contact with Kristofer Schipper, who rediscovered a Taoism that was thought to have disappeared. I am very close to the people of Beijing. It's a city that I really like, even though it's been destroyed a lot.
What is it about this country that draws you to this country?
