Highlights: "We are not in a situation where everything is fine, but we are experiencing difficulties in staffing the security industry" "In this way," Gilboa believes, "we will be able to send young people from the age of 21 to a security guard" "We are waiting for the minister and his people" to come and join the service. "In normal times, security companies employ about 90,20 security personnel, but with the outbreak of the nation, we are all in the same boat"

The economy is beginning to return to normal, and the security industry is experiencing difficulties in staffing the standards • Senior officials believe that the solution lies in training Haredim and employing them in the security fields • Police source: "We are assessing the situation"

Owners of security companies warn of a shortage of security guards in educational institutions, and in the economy as a whole, which is slowly beginning to return to activity, following the recruitment of many security guards to the IDF under Order 8. Pini Schiff, director general of the organization of security companies, believes that now is the time to recruit young people from the ultra-Orthodox sector, who are currently proving their enlistment in the IDF and their contribution to various national missions.

The security industry in Israel, through security companies, also provides security services to thousands of entities in the public and private sectors. The same applies to the power stations of the Israel Electric Corporation, local authorities, airports, offshore oil and gas rigs, hospitals, educational institutions, hotels, defense industrial plants, public space in cities, towns and many other bodies.

In normal times, security companies employ about 90,20 security personnel, but with the outbreak of the Iron Sword War, about <>,<> security guards were recruited because they are graduates of combat units in the IDF.

Naturally, there is an acute shortage of security missions nationwide. Owners of security companies claim that in recent days they have received complaints from businesses and workplaces that feel a shortage of security guards and cannot open schools, businesses and more.

Nir Gilboa, CEO of the "Team 3" security group, told Israel Hayom that the security industry, with the assistance of the National Histadrut and the Organization of Security Companies, which brings together 100 security companies in the economy, called on National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and the police to urgently examine training Haredim for the security system. "In this way," Gilboa believes, "we will help cover security missions both in strategic bodies of national importance and for many other security needs in the Israeli economy. As soon as this is possible, we will be able to send young people from the age of 21 to a security guard course and get certified to carry weapons."

"Functional continuity in the home front"

It should be emphasized that as of today, the law permits training and carrying weapons for those who did not serve in the army only from the age of 27 and over. According to Gilboa, "When we talk about functional continuity on the home front, part of what is needed is security guards. Just as in the Israeli envelope you need farmers and working hands, on the home front you need security teams, and this is the time to join our service. I don't think there's a security company in the country that wouldn't be happy to hire new employees. We see that the ultra-Orthodox are mobilizing and helping and calling on them to come and join the civilian security circle, and we are waiting for the minister and his people." Gilboa added, "The security companies know how to help arm the ultra-Orthodox, who will be trained both in the allocation of firearms and in their immediate absorption into work. The Histadrut Leumi will accompany the employment of ultra-Orthodox security guards with regard to their employment conditions and wages vis-à-vis their direct employer."

A source in the police security system said, referring to the more than 5,000 security guards supervised by the police: "We are not in a situation where everything is fine, but we assess the situation regularly and study the gaps. In some places, we have changed the perception of security by deploying technology and other measures that cover where there are gaps in manpower."

Regarding the need to secure entertainment venues and shopping centers, he said: "We are deployed with enough forces to assist. There are security guards on motorcycles who provide a response of less than a minute to parks, playgrounds and other places. It's true that security guards were recruited under Order 8, but we are deployed with police, border police and IDF forces in some city centers."
