Sorgalla: Containers can only be a makeshift

2023-10-27T13:48:28.540Z

Highlights: Three containers have been behind the Planegg inspection since mid-September. Because the water in the inspection building is contaminated with heavy metals, toilets, showers and kitchens are now located there. Inspection manager Thomas Sorgalla says: "I am opposed to the term container solution" "We will fix the water pipes," says Mayor Hermann Nafziger. If successful, the current building will be refurbished to such an extent that it can continue to be used until the move to the envisaged new building.

Toilets, showers, kitchen: For the past six weeks, the approximately 40 employees of the Planegg Police Inspectorate (PI 46) have been making do with three containers at the back of the building. How long this state of affairs will last remains to be seen.

Planegg - Since mid-September, there have been three containers behind the Planegg police station. Because the water in the inspection building is contaminated with heavy metals, toilets, showers and kitchens are now located there. Inspection manager Thomas Sorgalla says: "I would like to make it clear that I am opposed to the term container solution. It's a transition, not a solution. It serves to maintain service operations."

As reported, expert reports have shown that the nickel content in tap water is twice as high as the limit value for drinking water, the limit value for lead is exceeded by a factor of six, and the value for iron by a factor of 210. The municipality, as the landlord of the property, is looking for an explanation. "As far as I know, the problem is not completely localized," said Mayor Hermann Nafziger in a press conference. What is certain is that the water that comes into the building is impeccable. Last week, a specialist company visited the office, and next week, according to the town hall, it will present a concept "in which order which steps will be taken".

"We will fix the water pipes," says Mayor Nafziger. According to him, the extent to which the dilapidated building, which no longer meets the requirements of a police station, will be upgraded depends on whether the new inspection is built in Planegg. The municipality made several proposals for locations, which were rejected by the Free State. Negotiations with the owner of a plot of land in the Steinkirchen district have been underway for some time. There is an agreement in principle that, if successful, the current building will be refurbished to such an extent that it can continue to be used until the move to the envisaged new building. Nafziger: "If the police don't stay in Planegg, we won't renovate the building. In this case, the lease will be terminated with a transitional period. It must be clear to all parties involved that there is a need for action."
