In total, nineteen surfers took part in this competition in ten teams, in this small fishing port about 130 kilometers north of Lisbon, known for its giant swells.
This is the first towed and team surf competition, announced the World Surf League.
A surfer hospitalized
The competing teams were towed by jet ski and then set off to attack the waves. All the action was filmed during the day from various viewpoints. A panel of experts then selected the best waves, before the surfers met to choose the winners, whose names were announced Tuesday evening.
